Daniel Berrigan, SJ (Wikipedia / Jonah House profile), Steve Kelly, SJ, and Louie Vitale, OFM joined with over sixty others in cultivating community, strengthening resistance, and finding hope.

The Pacific Life Community is a network of people who are committed to ending nuclear weapons and war-making through non-violent direct action along the Pacific Rim in collaboration with the global peace movement. The PLC includes communities based in the Catholic Worker and other radical discipleship and peacemaking traditions from the Rockies westward into the Pacific.

Nevada Desert Experience is an interfaith organization that invites people to the Nevada Test Site to pray and protest for nuclear abolition. At a time of increasing nuclear danger, we witness for an end to subcritical nuclear testing in a desert that has been bombed nearly 1,000 times.

Friday


We gathered in Indian Springs on Friday and after sharing a meal gathered in


a room lined with photos of those committed to nonviolence who have gone before us.


Julia offered us the opportunity to remember those who inspired us and those who
were not able to be with us for the weekend, but were present in our hearts.

And we met in large and small groups.

Saturday


In large and small groups we shared where we've been and explored where we could go.


At the Test Site, Daniel Berrigan, SJ reflected on Isaiah 19,
the world we find ourselves in today and upon sorrow.


In silence we walked into the desert with sorrow and hope.


And returned to share our inspirations, reflections, and songs.


We shared a beautiful meal together before more work and some fun and socializing together.
